It's now four years since Andy Edwards and I started playing music together - our first gig together was a duo show at Tower Of Song. Four years later, this is the recording of our second duo show.

We've never got together to compose, never worked out any songs by anyone else, never 'rehearsed', (actually, we did one college jazz gig together about three years ago, playing some standards... :) ) we've just recorded as much improvised music as we can in that time - we've played gigs and made records with a number of other musicians - Murphy McCaleb, Jem Godfrey, Bryan Corbett, Phi Yaan-Zek... All wholly improvised and all recorded - most are available here as subscriber-only releases. the Ley Lines project with Phi was released to subscribers before Phi put it out publicly.

Andy is one of the most responsive, remarkable listeners I've ever played music with. He reacts to things SO fast, it's often tough to discern that they are musical ideas we've not worked out and remembered... That's an amazing skill, but also reveals a commitment to the deep art of improvisation that has nothing to do with the inward-looking notion of a 'jam session' and instead is about creating something new every time you pick up the instrument, bringing a language, a set of ideas and an openness to being shaped by the other musicians and their ideas to the project. It pays off every time. He's amazing.

So this is the latest stopping off point on a long journey - a journey into exploring a landscape, finding a language, building trust, having untold amounts of fun! I hope you enjoy it - most of Pt 2 is up as a subscriber video, and all of track 3 is on YouTube if you want to watch us as we play!
